Radhika Yadav, a promising tennis player from India, had made significant strides in both national and international competitions. She reached a peak ranking of 113 in the doubles category according to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and was positioned fifth in Haryana's women's doubles rankings. Tragically, she was shot and killed by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their residence in Gurugram Sector-57 on Thursday morning. Reports indicate that he fired five shots, four of which struck Radhika while she was in the kitchen.
Revelations from a Close Friend
In a heartfelt Instagram video, Himaanshika Singh, Radhika's best friend, shared unsettling details about Radhika's family life and the circumstances surrounding her tragic end. Himaanshika expressed her grief, stating, "I never imagined I would have to speak about this so soon, but I feel compelled to share the truth about Radhika."
She described Radhika as a talented international tennis player and a kind-hearted individual who had been pursuing her passion for the sport for 18 years. Radhika was also fond of photography and had recently filmed a music video, although her creative pursuits had come to a halt.
A Life Under Pressure
Himaanshika revealed that Radhika faced strict restrictions at home, which contributed to her feeling trapped. "Her parents were very traditional and often succumbed to societal pressures. Despite our close friendship, Radhika rarely interacted with others outside her family," she noted. Radhika often felt suffocated by the constant scrutiny and expectations from her parents, which included needing to prove her whereabouts during conversations.
Even though her tennis academy was just a short distance away, she was expected to return home promptly, leaving little room for flexibility. Himaanshika emphasized Radhika's talent as a coach, highlighting her popularity among students.
